There is no mistaking it. The latest from RIU resorts, this contemporary destination can be seen from miles away. By using natural light, the Palace Peninsula allows for a very open air feeling for that tropical get-a-way.
Located on the Northeast part of the Hotel Zone, the RIU offers all inclusive world cuisine in several dining options.
The main restaurant serves and endless buffet with on the spot cooking and themes. You would be hard pressed not to find something that your pallet desires. However, the RIU also offers five additional restaurants (with reservations) that include Krystal Fusion, Japanese, Italian, Mexican, and Grill Steakhouse in addition to 24 hour room service, bars and lounges, Cappachino Bar, Swim up bar, sports bar and an Ice Cream parlor!
During the day you can opt to relax by the pool or take advantage of the many water sports that RUI has to offer or be pampered at Renova spa. Of course, you are in cancun and the resort will be happy to arrange any type of outing that you would like.
Places to visit:
Isla Contoy:
A remote Mexican National park. Great for nature walks and bird watching or just having a little siesta under a palm tree. On our trip we were treated to an incredible seafood lunch: Using local white fish (that was THIS BIG) the fish was split in half and grilled all while painted with a Achiote and english sauce with black beer, lemon, salt, tomato and Onions. This had to be one of the best seafood dishes I have ever had!
Isla Mujeres:
The Island of Women is located less then 10 miles from cancun. Filed with great bars and street shops you can rent a bicycle, or as I preferred a gas powered golf cart, and cruise the strip. Great for a one day get-a-way or an overnight stay. This rural island has much to offer!
Place to swim:
Head over to Aquaworld and take a snorkeling trip to Cancun's underwater museum. In 2009 sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor began placing hundreds of incredible statues (based on real people) underwater creating a manmade reef and underwater museum. Make sure its a calm and clear day when you go.
Place to Dine:
La Habichula Sunset: This mayan restaurant not only has exquisite food but entertainment as well. The menu is filled with all styles of mouthwatering surf and turf. During dinner (on Wednesdays and Fridays) guests are treated to a mayan dance parading throughout the restaurant. After dinner the is the real treat with scrumptious desserts and mayan coffee set aflame and prepared in front of you. For great after dinner drink, try Xtabentun, served on the rocks. Similar to Sambuca, this sweet liquor is the perfect finishing touch to a great meal.
