Homeowners eager to protect their privacy, yet still get natural light through their front entryways, have four new options available from Therma-Tru Corp. The nation’s leading manufacturer and most preferred brand of entryway doors has introduced its new Privacy Glass Collection, featuring four obscure glass designs – Chord, Chinchilla, Rainglass and Granite.
Therma-Tru assigns a privacy rating to each of its glass designs. A rating of one means the glass is clear, allowing for full viewing through the glass. The maximum rating of 10 is assigned to highly obscure glass that would block someone’s view entirely into the home. High rated glasses are desirable for homeowners seeking security and privacy for the home.
The Chord glass features a vertical, flowing pattern reminiscent of waves on the water and has a privacy rating of 10. Chinchilla glass has a similar privacy rating and resembles a free-flowing configuration with quiet lines and unique curves. Granite glass is composed of a coarse grained arrangement on the glass surface with variations over the entire piece to give it a privacy rating of 10. Finally, Rainglass, with a privacy rating of 8, resembles ripples of cascading water in an elegantly-fashioned glass.
Unique to Therma-Tru, each privacy glass panel is triple-paned for energy efficiency and security. Each piece of textured privacy glass is sealed between tempered, clear glass sheets to provide reduced heat transfer, increased thermal performance and improved sound-dampening features within a reliably-constructed frame. Glass panels are ENERGY STAR® qualified and can be ordered with impact-rated options for severe weather areas.
“These four new glass designs are universal to virtually every Therma-Tru door and sidelite,”
says Donna Contat, glass product manager for Therma-Tru Corp. “This selection makes it possible for homeowners to choose the door style they desire and then match it up with privacy glass to create a stylish entryway with valuable energy efficiency features.
“We have introduced these new glass options in direct response to consumer requests for more privacy and security in the home. And, like all Therma-Tru glass, the new Privacy Glass Collection is engineered to work with our doors and components, maximizing the life of the entryway and providing increased long-term satisfaction. We believe homeowners will find that the cost-effective Privacy Glass Collection provides an exceptional upgrade over simple, clear glass in doors. Plus, these unique glass options can complement other privacy glass options in the home, such as those found in windows over garden tubs and in hallways.”
During the past five years, Therma-Tru has introduced more than a dozen new glass designs to its portfolio. The specialty glass options are intended to give homeowners a variety of choices to complement their home’s overall style and allow for personalization of the entryway.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012, Therma-Tru is known as the company that engineers its products for high performance as an entire entryway system. During its impressive history, Therma-Tru pioneered the fiberglass entryway system in 1982 with key features such as increased energy efficiency and eye-catching curb appeal elements. In 2007, Therma-Tru launched the Tru-Defense® Door System for entry and patio doors, providing builders and remodelers with advanced engineering to help withstand damaging weather and harsh conditions.
