On 42 acres in one of the last unspoiled areas of the Hamptons, surrounded by hundreds of acres of farmland reserve, is this spacious 18,000-square-foot gentleman's farm in Bridgehampton with imposing 225-foot façade that incorporates meticulous handcrafted details found in European estates. Wide limestone terraces overlook unlimited rolling vistas that are protected forever. An additional adjacent 20-acre lot is available separately.
The house is accessed through 18th-century limestone entry gates originally from a chateau in the south of France. An allée of blossoming cherry trees leads to the front entry and covered porte cochère. Every detail in the house was custom-designed and all woodwork was hand-milled on site. The bathroom marble was site selected in Verona, Italy. The patina-matched tubs, counters and tiles were carved from single blocks of stone by master Italian craftsmen.
Features include a paneled double-height entry hall with sweeping curved limestone staircase; library with hand-pegged parquet de Versailles floors and quarter-sawn white oak paneling with a hand-applied French chalk finish; diamond-paned sunroom with limestone floors overlooking the pool; large family room with oversized French doors opening to a custom-quarried Turkish limestone terrace; and formal dining room. The state-of-the-art kitchen is equipped with a professional sized La Cornue stove, two dishwashers, two Sub-Zero refrigerators, and top-of-the-line custom cabinetry with leaded panes and hand-blown glass.
The master suite has a sitting area, antique fireplace, and luxurious his-and-hers marble baths. There are six additional bedroom suites.
Premier-quality custom craftsmanship throughout featuring 12 fireplaces (including six antique French limestone fireplaces), carved marble and limestone bathtubs, hand-doweled wide-plank antique black walnut floors with matching doors, a 3-story elevator, and a 2,000 square foot four-car garage. A full basement has 10-foot-high ceilings and can be finished as desired by the new owner. A detached pool house opens to a 1,500-square-foot terrace surrounding a heated pool.
Throughout the house, all stone floors have radiant heat. The multi-zone state-of-the-art gas-fired hydronic heating and geothermal air conditioning are designed for ultra-efficiency and low energy cost.
The Bridgehampton farm home is fully pre-wired for Crestron home automation, Lutron lighting system, multi-line telephone system, audio-visual and security.
