Stone, timber, iron, stucco: materials integral to the Tuscan style are captured in the design of this residence. The home has wings that extend into the landscape, creating outdoor living spaces for entertainment, recreation, and an entry courtyard embracing visitors through an arched portico. The home enwraps the swimming pool terrace, which is bathed in southern light and nestled into a hill. Romanesque arches, thickened walls, and timber brackets hearken back to the old world construction techniques.
The turreted entry creates an interior rotunda, off which radiates the more formal areas of the home: dining, living and library. The heart of the home, where day to day living occurs, includes the kitchen and family room which is hinged around a circular space, the breakfast room. From serving breakfast at the island bar, to relaxing near one of the multiple fireplaces, there are spaces for every mood, activity and family member. A timbered screened porch allows an extension of outdoor activities, providing cover on a rainy day fresh air and moonlight into the night.
Honoring the deep-seated traditions of northern Italy, this home evokes feelings of relaxing on the terrace of a hillside villa, where the vineyards flourishes in the distance.
